{type of work} jewelry boards and jewelry, but i’ll give anything a try.
{your story} the feel of a paint brush has been a natural fit in my hand since childhood. i followed its call, obtained my degree in studio art and landscape design. became a wife, then a mom, and now i’m creating with my brushes again after creating three lives over the past four years.
{where/how you learned your craft} my mentor was my grandpa jerry, he could create a spectrum ranging from trinkets to houses with his hands. i spent hours with him in his wood shop and fabrication factory. my other guide was my friend casi’s mom, debbie baker. she was the first woman i met that had a studio in her home and actually created art to be sold. i was ten then, it was impressionable to see a life being led that was not conventional. that was my first taste of knowing that i didn’t have to follow a prescribed method. credit must be given to my mom for her endless supply of puffy paints and encouragement.
{your inspiration} light! i’m a light chaser. sunlight is my absolute favorite (with or without spf- those choices are starting show!) lighting sets the tone. i like to catch the impermanence of light in my work.
{some of your favorite things} the color aqua, vodka tonics, citrus, summer, kent, my kids, my friends, family and sea shells.
{what’s your eco-edge} after having kids, i started to think about what the world would be presenting to them. including the materials that would be surrounding their little bodies. i started to question our levels of consumption, and how things were made. i can make small daily changes to help preserve our health and resources from our land, and i can create art that reflects these values.
{the vision you hope to share with others through your work} i hope that others see my work as well designed functional pieces that bring a little joy in their lives. knowing that it was crafted from my hands and shared with them. the passing of energy from one to another is a powerful feeling that i would like more people to experience. i hope to share this feeling with others.
